Services to Member Schools

Over 100 instructional television (ITV) series, are broadcast by Wisconsin Public Television for teachers to use in their classrooms. Many are also datacast and are now available on ECB VideoLink on BadgerLink.

All ITV series are accompanied by teacher guides and correlated to the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards at all grade levels.

NEWIST offers a variety of services to its member schools to support classroom use of K-12 instructional television programming and its related technology.

 

FREE Parade of Programs to each teacher in NEWIST member schools.

A 50% discount on NEWIST staff development workshops for elementary, middle and high school teachers focusing on information on ITV/Internet resources for educators.

A 40% discount on all NEWIST-produced documentaries.

A free-loan library of NEWIST/CESA 7  productions, i.e., Shelter from the Storm (women and children in poverty), You Don't Want to Live in My House and Game Over (teens and prison), Repairing the Harm (restorative justice), When Nobody's Looking (ethics), Being Hmong Means Being Free, and many others. (Rental fee for non-member schools is $50).

10% discount on all teacher guides, CD-ROMs, software and other teacher materials from the ECB (Educational Communications Board).

Technical consultation from the ECB is reduced to $40 per hour, plus 35ยข/mile, phone consultation will be free.

10% discount for tape dubbing from the ECB.

In-service on any of the instructional programming broadcast on the Wisconsin Public Television network, i.e., Into the Book, Issues for the Millennium; Exploring Wisconsin Our Home, etc.

NEWIST News keeps schools up-to-date on new ITV programming and specials, conferences, grants, websites for educators, etc; available monthly via email to your school.

Help educators find broadcast programs that they may have missed taping.

The opportunity to serve on the Teacher Advisory Committee to help select new ITV programs for broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television.

Student and teacher opportunity to be involved in television programming produced by NEWIST or the ECB: Teen Connection, as well as documentaries on social issues facing youth.

Opportunity to serve on the NEWIST Advisory Board to determine the direction of NEWIST.

Presentations at PTA/PTO and Home School Association meetings.

Email updates to member schools on instructional TV programming changes and/or additions, as well as other information of interest to educators.
